編集を担当するのは、フタロシアニンの研究で名高いスペインUniversidad Autónoma de MadridのTomas Torres教授と、同教授に師事する若手化学者Giovanni Bottari博士の二人です。各章の寄稿者にも、各分野を代表する研究者が名前を連ね、例えば色素増感型太陽電池に関するChapter 26には、同電池の発明者で「グレッツェルセル」の名前にもなっているローザンヌ工科大のMichael Gratzel教授が自ら執筆に加わっています。そのほか大阪大・福住 俊一教授、筑波大・小島 隆彦教授 (Chapter 6)、福井工大・小松 紘一教授、京都大・村田 靖次郎教授 (Chapter 11)、分子科学研・永瀬茂名誉教授、筑波大・赤阪 健教授 (Chapter 12)ら、各主題を専門とする著名な日本人研究者も寄稿者として参加し、本書の質の高さを保証しています。
